Peter Weng

MD PHD STUDENT

Peter received his BS in physiology and his BA in economics from the University of Maryland. During his undergraduate training, he employed structural studies to understand the mechanisms of DNA repair proteins at the National Institutes of Health. As an MD/PhD student, he is interested in understanding the cellular and molecular interactions that govern normal physiology as well as how perturbations to such interactions contribute to the development of disease. In the Bohórquez laboratory, he aims to incorporate molecular biology techniques, calcium imaging, electrophysiology recordings and behavioral studies to learn how essential components of food are sensed by the gut and rapidly conveyed to areas of the brain to drive particular behaviors.
